Research - Richard Sweeney

I have looked into the work of Richard Sweeney to start this project off as he is a guest speaker in our skills workshop, sharing his techniques and skills with us. He works with paper, creating sculptures and models with a delicate nature.

His skills of paper manipulation are very inspiring and interesting,

This piece, "Icosahedron II" is one of my favourites because it is delicate and intricate. I think it has a sort of floral aspect to it too and I like this...

I also like the idea behind these pieces that he made for Papershapers Exhibit, they are like paper lamp shades and i also like the way they are suspended from the ceiling by clear string giving the illusion they are floating in mid-air...

"Torus 2006" has so much detail in it, i find it interesting how it all comes together to make the structure it has, it reminds me of a vase...

Finally "Gerald" is another one of my favourites, i like how it is fun and not too serious, yet the techniques make it effective...
